

Samantha “Sami” Coplon is a performer, choreographer, collaborator, and instructor currently based in Orlando, FL. Originally from northwest New Jersey, Sami trained and performed with the Dance Academy of North Jersey under the direction of Jason Luks, Jaclyn Walsh, Angelica Stiskin, Ashley Lindsey, and more. Sami earned her BFA in Dance from the University of Florida where she performed works by Dante Puleio, Xan Burley, Alex Springer, Elizabeth Johnson, Trent D. Wiliams Jr., Augusto Soledade, and Crystal Edwards. Her most notable performance credits include the 2018 Capezio ACE Awards for choreographer Jaclyn Walsh, the UF Dance 2022 Faculty Showcase for choreographers Xan Burley, Alex Springer, and Elizabeth Johnson, and the 2022 NewGrounds Dance Concert for choreographers Xan Burley & Alex Springer. She has trained with companies such as Doug Varone & Dancers, The Limon Foundation, and Gaga People. As a choreographer, Sami’s previous choreographic work [R]etrospective [E]xperience [M]odulated premiered in 2021 in “embodied” at the University of Florida, and was presented again in 2022 at the “NewGrounds Dance Concert” in Tampa, FL. She has collaborated with many other parts of the performance umbrella, such as taking on the role of First Assistant Director for Millicent Johnnie at the 2021 UF SWAMP DANCE FEST! She continues to explore new movement creation and develop new perspectives within dance and the performance world.
